Heritage Classical Libraries

The Heritage Classical Libraries feature traditional history books that were popular with young people only a few generations ago. They include books suitable for students of all ages, but are especially useful to middle school students and young adults who enjoy narrative history, and personal, in depth stories of enduring interest.

Each Library CD includes biographies, historical literature, military history, and hero stories as well as comprehensive histories. The Heritage Classical Libraries are not configured as complete curriculums but they can be used as the basis for an independent program of study or to supplement other traditional curriculums.

Heritage History currently offers four Classical Libraries. Each contains dozens of books at reading levels from fourth grade to college prep, as well as specific recommendations for beginning, intermediate, and advanced readers. They are attractive choices for students of all abilities.

Curriculum User Guide

Each Heritage Classical Curriculum CD can be used by students of any age since most include books from a range of reading levels. We do, however, have a recommended sequence, described in more detail in the Curriculum User Guide (Printable Version). The Curriculum Guide lays out a multi-year program of study that covers much of Western civilization. It also explains the "living books" approach to learning, and provides practical advice for keeping students on track learning the essentials while encouraging them to pursue their own interests.
