Modern Europe Classical Library
 | | Classical Library CD |
The history of Modern Europe begins with the 18th century Enlightenment and
focuses on conflicts between advoctes of secular "reforms", and traditional
Christian monarchies.
The rise of Prussia, the political turmoil of France, the unification of Italy,
the Bolshevik revolution in Russia and the rise of anti-clerical governments
throughout 19th century Europe, are some of
the major themes of the period.
The nineteenth century was a period of prosperity, change, and conflict
throughout Europe, and these forces resulted in the calamities of the First
and Second World Wars. Unfortunately, much of the conflict in
modern Europe has been driven by ideology, technological evolution,
and humanist philosophy; it is therefore a difficult period for
young readers to understand. The Modern Europe collection contains
several books for grammar school students, but is composed mainly of
books for written for middle school and high school readers.
The complete illustrated text of over 50 books,
reading recommmendations, and short summaries of each book in the collection,
for one low price.
