Electronic Books

All books included in the Heritage Classical Curriculum CDs are presented in both printable (PDF) and e-Reader (EPUB and MOBI) formats so that students can print copies or download e-Books to any electronic reading device. Instructions for downloading e-Books from your computer or laptop to any e-Reader can be found on the Electronic Readers page of this web page, or on the Curriculum CD itself. A sample Heritage History e-Book, has been provided. You can copy it directly to your computer, and from there, either print a copy, or download it to your e-Reader or Tablet.

The Electronic Text User Guide (Printable Version) is especially helpful to those who are unfamiliar with electronic books. Not only does it provide instructions for copying Heritage e-Books to various e-Readers, it also discusses issues related to printing, binding, and keeping production costs low for those who prefer printed versions.


Study Aids and Study Guides

Each Curriculum CD includes a large selection of Study Aids. These Study Aids include visual aids, such as high quality images and historical maps, as well text-based material, such as timelines and battle dictionaries. Hundreds of pages of study aids are included on each curriculum CD. Many of these resources are also included in a printable, civilization-specific Study Guide that is also available on each Curriculum CD.

Instead of describing the Study Aids in detail, abbreviated samples are provided below. In most cases, these samples were provided by creating a PDF image of a portion of a much larger file. Study aids that accompany each curriculum include:

A pre-printed version of each Study Guide is offered for purchase for the benefit of families that do not have access a low-cost color printer. The Study Guide can be printed directly from the Curriculum CD, so it is not necessary to purchase a pre-printed version, but we recommend that each student using the Heritage Classical Curriculum create a notebook that features the complete contents of the Study Guide. Curriculum User Guide

Each Heritage Classical Curriculum CD can be used by students of any age since most include books from a range of reading levels. We do, however, have a recommended sequence, described in more detail in the Curriculum User Guide (Printable Version). The Curriculum Guide lays out a multi-year program of study that covers much of Western civilization. It also explains the "living books" approach to learning, and provides practical advice for keeping students on track learning the essentials while encouraging them to pursue their own interests.

Families of grammars school age Children are encouraged to get started with the Young Readers Curriculum, the introductory unit of the Heritage Classical Curriculum. It offers dozens of easy-to-read histories from World, Biblical, and American history, perfect for sparking the interest of grammar school students. Once a student is ready for comprehensive history we suggest that he begin with the histories of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, to provide the best foundation for a study of Western civilization. Following an introduction to ancient civilizations, we recommend the British Middle Ages and British Empire collections. They cover the Middle Ages and Early Modern period with a special focus on Britain, the unique civilization from from which the United States emerged.

Together these libraries provide an excellent foundation for a high school level study of Early American history and Modern European history. Heritage History currently offers libraries that focus on these topics, but complete curriculums and study aids for these topics are not yet available.
