Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe is set in 12th century England, during the Reign of Richard I, when Saxons and Normans were still at odds, and feudal customs still in force. This children's version is short and easily read, but it well preserves the romance, mystery, excitment and chivalric heroism of the beloved original. The story tells of a disinherited Saxon knight, and hero of the crusades, who helps to bring Saxon and Norman together as one people.
